King's Fellows receive international awards

officier

A trio of King's Fellows have been recognised with honours from across the world in recognition of their academic endeavours.

Fellow in French literature and cultural history, Professor Chris Prendergast (KC 1970), has been appointed as an Officier dans l’Ordre des Palmes académiques, bestowed by the French Republic on distinguished academics and figures in the world of culture and education. Chris becomes one of only a small number of British academics to have been appointed as Officier, and we warmly congratulate him on this latest recognition of his outstanding intellectual distinction.

Professor Mark Johnson (KC 1981), a Fellow specialising in Experimental Psychology, has been elected to the American Academy for Arts and Sciences, which recognizes the outstanding achievements of individuals in academia, the arts, business, government, and public affairs. The 2019 class includes gender theorist Judith Butler, author Jonathan Franzen, and another former King's Fellow, computational biologist Richard Durbin (KC 1983).

Mark studied for his PhD at King's in the 1980s before returning to the College as a Fellow in 2017.

Mathematician Professor Richard Jozsa (KC 2010) has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society in addition to his recent admission to the Fellowship at King's. This will be Richard's second stint at King's, having been a Fellow from 2010 to 2013.
