Five King's alumni recognised in Birthday Honours

Our warm congratulations to the five King's alumni who have been recognised in the 2023 King’s Birthday Honours:

Professor Oliver Hart (KC 1966) has been made Knight Bachelor in recognition of a sustained and exceptional contribution to economic theory. He received a Nobel Prize in 2016 and is an Honorary Fellow at King’s.

Professor David Abulafia (KC 1968) has been awarded a CBE for services to scholarship. David is Emeritus Professor of Mediterranean History at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow at Gonville & Caius.

Alumna Eve Samson (KC 1979) has been awarded an CBE for services to Parliament and to the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Alumnus Jason James (KC 1983) has also  been awarded an OBE for services to UK/Japan relations.

And alumnus Colin Garrett (KC 1961) has received a British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to Violin Making.
