Ethnic Minorities Open Day 20 June 2022

Welcome! On the 20th June 2022, King’s College will be hosting its Fifth Ethnic Minorities Open Day. This event will be open to prospective students aged 16+ from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, currently attending a UK school. The aim of the event is to give Ethnic Minority students from UK schools an opportunity to gain an insight into life at Cambridge and ask questions about anything from admissions to student life here at King’s. Please check back to this website on the day as well, as we will update this with further resources and links.

This Open Day is aimed at Year 12 students from an Ethnic Minority who are currently going to school in the UK. Particularly, we would like to encourage capable students who have been hesitant about applying to Cambridge to register. You will have opportunities to hear from current students about their experiences. For any further information please don’t hesitate to contact our outreach officers at slo@kings.cam.ac.uk or the King’s Ethnic Minorities officers at ethnic.minorities@kcsu.org.uk

Booking for the sessions is now open. Please use the SIGN-UP FORM HERE. We hope to see you soon!

Making a competitive application - useful resources

When you are thinking about making an application to University, it's usually best to start looking at the courses you want to apply to, to find out about the content and structure of the course.  You can find more information about the subjects offered at King's below.

Once you know which subject you want to apply for, it's important to develop further knowledge in your subject. Successful applicants have engaged with their subject beyond the school curriculum in a variety of ways. There is no perfect formula for this, your academic journey is as individual as you are. If you are still at the beginning of this or are not sure how to continue, we have collected some resources for super-curricular engagement, that will hopefully be useful for you!

Start reading about the application process early enough! Cambridge has an earlier application deadline than other Universities and we also have some additional forms you have to fill in, as well as pre-interview assessments you may have to register for (depending on your subject). Especially if you are applying with limited support, it can be useful to get in touch with a college admissions office by email early on. We are always happy to answer any questions you may have!
