Popup Opera Presents: Il Matrimonio Segreto (The Secret Marriage)

matrimonio_flyer_p1

Pop-up Opera is an innovative touring opera company which aims to broaden the appeal of opera and to challenge the way opera is performed, by taking it into unusual spaces and making intimate and engaging. The company aims to reach those who are hesitant about opera, as well as dedicated opera lovers. Productions are fully staged but go beyond traditional theatres to a boat made of scrap metal, a restored Victorian poorhouse, a cylindrical shaft beneath the Thames, a cider barn, a winery and even 100 ft underground in candlelit caverns. "I honestly cannot imagine anyone, of any age or class or tastes, who would have been bored or unmoved" — The Times "FIVE stars for an opera with no orchestra, very little design and no big stars itself? Yes; five stars" — Daily Express  More details
