Today King’s College releases the latest album on its own record label: a live recording of Bach’s magnificent St John Passion. Stephen Cleobury and the Choir of King’s College Cambridge are joined by the Academy of Ancient Music on this release, which was recorded live in concert during the Easter at King’s Festival in March 2016. The recording features King’s alumnus James Gilchrist as part of an all-star line-up of soloists that also includes Neal Davies, Cardiff Singer of the World prize winner. Sophie Bevan, Iestyn Davies, Ed Lyon and Roderick Williams complete a cast of soloists renowned for their handling of the repertoire. Available on a surround-sound 2-disc CD set, the recording can also be downloaded in mp3 and studio master formats at the King’s College Recordings website.
