👩🎨 Take a moment to visit the Creative Vespers exhibition in the King’s Art Rooms (A staircase), organised by the College Chaplain Mary Kells and open to all until 12 June.
The drawings on display were made at two sessions in response to the theme “Refreshment” inspired by Shabbat (9 May) and from an Islamic perspective (30 May).
💜🕯There are still two Thursday Lates to enjoy in the Chapel:
HeartSpace takes place tonight at 9pm and you are invited to experience the quiet Chapel by candlelight.
Or you can join Compline next Thursday, a traditional half-hour choral service by candlelight followed by refreshments in Hall.

⏳ Last few days to apply to the King’s College/CBSO Scholarship in Orchestral Composition 2024-2025!
The result of an exciting partnership between King’s, the Faculty of Music and the world-renowned City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and made possible thanks to a generous donation, this programme allows two Cambridge students – regardless of College affiliation – to compose a new work for @thecbso and hear it rehearsed and professionally recorded in two separate workshops. This is an unrivalled and invaluable opportunity for a young composer.
Upon completing his Scholarship in 2020, Michael Taplin commented:
“For composers at the early stages of their career, to have the chance to work with the CBSO is rare. The two stages of the project enable us to have the chance to try-out, experiment with material; additionally with the benefit of time between each workshop in order to revise and hone our ideas. Furthermore, we are granted the advantage of having a professional recording of an orchestral piece. This undoubtedly, will be useful in promoting our music beyond the end of the scheme whilst being protected from the pressure of having a public premiere which could inhibit the creative spirit and potentially be damaging to our confidence at this stage in our career.”
Students wishing to apply should submit a CV, two scores (with accompanying recordings if available – ideally in mp3 format) and a personal statement via the online application form that was emailed from the Faculty of Music.
Deadline for applications is this Friday, 31 May 2024.

The sun is shining (or at least was) and our @kingscollegecricket team is certainly making the most of the good weather - and bringing in some talented footballers and even a rugby player! 🏏⚽🏈
We caught up with the team's Captain, Ram...
"It has been a very good year for us starting the cupper's campaign with three wins in a row and sitting first in our group. We have had lots of fun playing, bringing King's their first cricket win since 2019 and making it to the quarter finals of the cupper's competition.
I think what's made the difference for us this year has been the attitude and team morale, where we all play to have fun primarily and then the winning follows. This is essential since most of the team have exams this term."
