King’s Non Resident Members (alumni) are warmly invited to register to attend ‘A Choral Service for Advent’ which will be held in King’s College Chapel on Sunday, 28th November 2021 at 6.00pm. 

Members may request a ticket for themselves and two guest tickets (subject to availability). 

It is intended that the Choir will sing from the front of the Ante-chapel as well as from the Stalls and the East End but it will not be processional in quite the usual way.  We will be asking all those who attend to wear face coverings for the whole service.

Please register for tickets (subject to availability) by 12 noon on 22nd November 2021.

If you have any questions about the service, or special requirements please email: events@kings.cam.ac.uk – please understand that due to a smaller congregation this year we may not be able to offer you extra guest tickets.

Please note that the location of your seat(s) will be at the discretion of the Dean who oversees the seating plan for this service. Please be aware that the majority of Non Resident Member seats will be in the Ante Chapel.

Other Information

•    Please consider taking a COVID-19 rapid lateral flow test before attending the service. If you have a positive result we would ask you not to attend. 
•    We would appreciate you wearing a face covering upon entering the Chapel and for the duration of the service.
•    Please arrive in plenty of time before the service. Doors open at 5.00pm on 28th November and guests are asked to be seated in the Chapel by 5.45pm. Late entry will not be permitted. 
•    The service will conclude at around 7.15pm.
•    Please commit to attending for the whole service when you book. There is no convenient opportunity to leave once it has started.
•    Photography, videography and audio recording are strictly forbidden during the service.

Looking back a week on from a sunny graduation. 🎓 Last Friday, 35 graduands celebrated the end of their graduate studies. Among them were Rebecca (left, now Senior Tutor at @trinitycollegeox) and Katherine (right), both 'Class of 2001', who decided to attend this graduation ceremony together as they had both missed the chance to collect their certificates over 20 years ago! Congratulations to the new members of our alumni community!
 
A new exhibition curated by King's Research Fellow Dr Georgia Nasseh opens in London today. If you've read the latest edition of @cambridgeuniversity's CAM magazine you'll know all about two of room U2's residents, so we were delighted when alumnus Matthew Lee (KC 1988) got in touch to share his own memories. "U2, Bodley's Court was my room too! Specifically my third year as an undergraduate (1990-1991) and well I remember that bitter winter when the River Cam froze. That's me in the photo - brushing my teeth as I recall - taken by my Queens' girlfriend - and now wife! I was amused to see that the curtains, desk and general décor look not to have changed one jot; albeit the former seem to have faded a little!" The @TrinCollCam Musical Theatre Programme is a brand-new scheme which offers outstanding vocalists from across @cambridgeuniversity the chance to work over the academic year with internationally-recognised voice teacher @CameronORichardson. 17 students were chosen for the pilot programme from a large number of applications and they have had coaching sessions over the year. The concert on 8 May was the culmination of that work and an opportunity to showcase the musical theatre talent in the University. Part of this first cohort is King’s MPhil student @kaetlyn_liddy (Social Anthropology) who told us as she crossed the Front Court on her way to this very special concert: “I’ll be singing a song called ‘I Wish It So’ from the musical Juno. I’ve learned so much from the Trinity Musical Theatre Programme, particularly from my individual lessons with Cameron Richardson-Eames. Making progress as a singer can sometimes be very gradual or subtle, but I have learned so quickly and effectively in my time with Cameron. Pursuing a career in musical theatre is something I have always been interested in, but I’ve historically found it difficult to balance my academic and artistic goals. This programme has not only helped me develop my technique and artistry as a singer, but reminded me how much I love performing and musical theatre as a creative medium. I find music to be such a nice escape from my academic work, especially as a master’s student, and it only enhances my ability to thrive in that sphere of my life as well. I feel lucky to have been able to do both at a high level this term. It’s not a very common opportunity for most graduate students to continue a creative passion once academic work begins to get more consuming, so I’m very grateful to have been in the first cohort of this wonderful programme.”

An autograph manuscript of Jane Austen’s 'Sanditon' has gone on loan to Harewood House in Yorkshire as part of their new exhibition ‘Austen and Turner: A Country House Encounter’.
