Beethoven String Quartet in B flat Op.130
250 years after his birth, Beethoven’s music has lost none of its ability to fascinate, challenge and inspire audiences. In the intimate setting of The Old Lodge, King’s College, the United Strings of Europe tackle the great String Quartet in B flat Op.130 – perhaps the composer at his most radical – in an arrangement for string ensemble. Unison and dense polyphony, complexity and simplicity, propulsion and hesitation all vie to create a work of deep profundity and affect.
* due to extremely limited availability, this event will be presented twice at 7.30pm, and again at 9.00pm
Presented in partnership with Beethoven2020
