King's Music Test

Students who are invited for interview in Music at King's are asked to sit a Music test set by the King's Director of Studies whilst they are in Cambridge. The test is in addition to your interviews, to give you another opportunity to show what you can do in music.

The King’s Music Test is a 30-minute test of aural skills in which you will be required to write out a short melody (played four times) and phrases of Bach chorale (played four times). You will not be required to perform on your instrument.

If we invite you for interview, we will automatically organise this Music test for you as part of your interview day timetable - you do not need to register.

If you normally receive extra time or other arrangements for exams that you sit at school, please read about applying with a disability, Specific Learning Difficulty or long-term illness.

NB. If you have been reading about the written assessments in most subjects, please note that there is no standard format written assessment for Music.
