Free Talk: Poetry & Christ's Passion
Late change: Dr Rowan Williams is regrettably unable to be present for this talk. In his place, Malcolm Guite will lead the discussion with Hilary Davies and John Robert Lee.
In a public conversation, former Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, and contemporary poets, Hilary Davies and John Robert Lee, explore poetry’s unique capacity to open up the power and meaning of Christ’s passion.
John Robert Lee is a St. Lucian poet and author who has published several collections of poetry, including his Collected Poems 1975-2015 (Peepal Tree, 2017). He holds the National Award of the St. Lucia Medal of Merit (Gold) for his contribution to the development of Saint Lucian arts and culture.
Hilary Davies is an English poet, translator and critic, who has received numerous awards and fellowships for her work, including theEric Gregory award and First Prize in the Cheltenham Literature Festival poetry competition. She has represented Britain in the World Poetry Festival and her highly-acclaimed fourth volume of poetry, Exile and Kingdom (Enitharmon), was published in 2016.
This is a free public event: no ticket required. Please note that this event is in the Lecture Theatre at Trinity Hall.
