Concerts at King's celebrates Stephen Cleobury's unprecedented 37-year tenure at the College with an evening of beloved English music, performed by artists and ensembles with whom the outgoing Director of Music has had particularly long-standing creative partnerships. The BBC Singers are joined by Britten Sinfonia for Vaughan Williams' intoxicating Serenade to Music before the Choir of King's College perform two great anthems of the Cathedral tradition by Howells and Elgar respectively, heard here in their fully-orchestrated versions. Finally, international tenor and former King's Choral Scholar Andy Staples takes the eponymous role in Britten's joyous Saint Nicolas, evoking the College's dedicatory ties to this mysterious and miraculous patron saint of students.
