What's involved?

Calculating Women is a free residential event open to women and non binary students studying in Year 11 UK state schools. The residential is designed to demonstrate the real-world relevance and applications of maths-based skills, and to reveal the diversity of industries and careers to which maths skills and a maths-based degree can underpin.

This two-day, one-night residential will take place from the 15th-16th April 2026 at King's College. Attendees will get a chance to take part in hands-on maths challenges and collaborative problem-solving activities with their peers, alongside teaching sessions given by academics at the College.

Attendees will stay in overnight ensuite accommodation in College. An evening meal will be provided in the King's College Dining Hall on the night of the 15th April and breakfast and lunch will be provided on the 16th April.

There will be exciting social activities run by current students interspersed throughout the residential.

How much does it cost?

This event is completely free to attend. Travel expenses will be covered for students who can provide evidence of eligibility for Free School Meals (FSM). We may also cover expenses for students who are not eligible for FSM but can provide evidence of a household income below median average earnings in the UK. Please email slo@kings.cam.ac.uk if you are unsure about your eligibility.

Where will the event take place?

The event will take place at King's College, University of Cambridge. Attendees will be required to stay overnight in student accommodation.
