Graduate study

The College has graduate students in virtually every subject. The substantial number of graduate students and Fellows at King's means that you will be part of a vibrant and supportive research community.

As a graduate student, you will receive most of your teaching through your Department or Faculty. For research students with supervisors, your supervisor may not necessarily be a member of King's. However, the College is still central to the intellectual life of most of its graduate students and a major research institution.

A quick note on terminology: you may see the words 'graduate' and 'postgraduate' used across different Cambridge websites and forms. They are synonymous and can be used interchangeably. If you're ever uncertain, please get in touch with our Graduate Admissions team who are happy to help.

Application deadlines

Applications for the 2026/27 academic year will open in early September 2025 and this page will be updated then.

If you wish to apply to start in the Lent or Easter Terms (starting in January or April 2027), the application deadlines will vary.
