Year 12 Visits to King's College

This programme provides an opportunity for schools with students in Year 12 to visit one of the Cambridge University Colleges and receive further information about Cambridge University, including details about making applications to competitive universities. This is open to multiple schools on one day which will also provide students with the opportunity to meet other students from the North East.

These visits are open to UK state school within our link area, the North East of England. This includes schools in Darlington, Durham, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Northumberland, Redcar and Cleveland, Stockton-on-Tees, East Yorkshire, Kingston-upon-Hull and York.

Aims of the visit:

The aim of the visit is to work with Year 12 students and get them thinking about why they may want to apply to Cambridge University. We will introduce King's and Cambridge, giving them a chance to see some of the facilities, encourage them in their course research and development of academic interests, and also help them to get a feel for student life here.

The visit also aims to give them some helpful tools and ideas for making a competitive application to a selective university. This visit should therefore be helpful for students even if they do not wish to apply to Cambridge.

All we ask is for your group to come with an open mind and participate fully.

This visit should enable your Year 12 students to get their questions answered, clarify a few myths, and make an informed decision about whether they should consider applying to Cambridge university. Even if the answer is no then the visit should still be a useful for students should they make an application to another University.

How to sign up for a Y12 visit day

We are currently in the process of arranging more Y12 visit days for 2020. Please check back soon for additional dates!

Please note that we will initially only be able to offer schools up to 15 places for a single date only. In the event of under-subscription, we will contact schools awarded places to see if they would like to increase their group size.
