Graduate student support
Research at graduate student level is crucial for understanding and solving complex global problems; and these are the young people who go on to become the leaders and innovators of tomorrow.
The opportunity to study at King’s at graduate level needs to be available to the most talented students from the widest range of social, cultural and academic backgrounds for ground-breaking research to take place. Yet securing funding for graduate education for both UK and International students is increasingly difficult – and for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, adding to undergraduate student debt with further loans to support graduate study can be a major deterrent.
A gift to support graduate studentships at MPhil or PhD level will help us ensure that access to graduate level study is open to all, not just those with independent means; and that we can bring more of the best minds here from the UK and around the world.
Some of my most talented students have come from underrepresented groups, and for many of them funding has been a real problem – and one that is getting worse. We need to be able to have confidence that the very best students, irrespective of means, can come here and work to their fullest potential, without constant worries about money.
