The Bob Feilden PhD Studentship

This studentship is linked to the Whittle Lab in Engineering and follows in the footsteps of the innovator Bob Feilden to advance the propulsion and power sectors towards Net Zero.

It is open to any area of research within The Whittle Laboratory. The two main areas are aerospace propulsion and land-based power generation, where researchers are striving to help industrial partners to achieve net zero by 2050. They also lead the way in developing new computational and experimental methods which provide the tools needed to tackle some of engineering’s biggest challenges. How to Apply

The information shown below is for students who will be applying to commence studies in 2027/28:

All applicants to the University of Cambridge to study a PhD in Engineering can be considered for this Studentship. Applicants must be applying for an area of research in the Whittle Laboratory.

During your course application process, please indicate that you wish to apply for funding. If you may be eligible, you will be presented with information, through the portal, in order to apply for this Studentship.

Any candidate offered the Studentship who has not applied to King’s, must be willing to transfer to King’s to take up the award.

Studentship Feedback

The holder of the Studentship will be expected to submit updates on their work for use in reports to the donors, and for possible inclusion in College print and digital publications. They may also be asked to describe their experience at King’s and indicate their intentions for the future.
