King’s musicians ‘Take it to the Bridge’ on 13 March
Four University of Cambridge bands have reached the 2026 grand final of the University’s flagship popular music competition Take it to the Bridge, and will battle it out for the top prize on Friday 13 March at the Cambridge Junction (J1). Among them are Den and Pulsar, both bands featuring King’s members.
MPhil student Gus Lovell and recent graduate Finn Cullen (KC 2022) will be playing in the rock band DEN, while sixth year medic James Wang is the keyboardist of jazz fusion band Pulsar. James and his former band, Quasar, won the University’s band competition two years ago. And last year, King’s drummer Kenzie Robertson and her band were the winning act.
Gus, Finn and James are among 19 students and recent graduates from nine colleges performing in the four bands which have reached the final. They will go head to head for the coveted title in front of hundreds of students and local residents, as well as a judging panel of industry professionals including Sonita Alleyne OBE (Chair, Centre for Music Performance), Preye Crooks (Sony Music) and Matt Fincham (BBC Radio 1). The judges’ decision will be informed by an audience vote.
