Entrepreneurship at King's

With our long history of bold thinking, King’s is firmly committed to the promotion of entrepreneurship both as an independent discipline and as an area of enquiry for students in all subjects. In addition to supporting around 40 students on the MBA and MSt degree courses at the Judge Business School, we seek to bring great minds together from across the College to exchange ideas and to encourage collaboration, creative thinking, and the making of a positive difference in society – some of the hallmarks of King’s.

Thanks to the generosity and dedication of our alumni, we have been able to establish a number of ambitious initiatives to help students gain entrepreneurial skills and explore careers in innovation and business, while keeping our social, ethical, and environmental responsibility at the heart of everything we do.

The College’s entrepreneurship programme includes:

  • The King’s Entrepreneurship Lab, offering a year-long foundation programme for King’s students, including an intensive residential week before the start of the academic year;
  • two Fellows, Kamiar Mohaddes and Thomas Roulet, whose research explores entrepreneurship, acting as Directors of the Lab;
  • an Entrepreneur-in-Residence, providing advice and mentoring for students, and coordinating a monthly webinar series with distinguished speakers;
  • a Senior Advisory Board, chaired by Malcolm McKenzie (KC 1977) and including noted business leaders, to help guide aspiring entrepreneurs and connect them with helpful resources;
  • the King’s Entrepreneurship Competition, established by Stuart Lyons CBE (KC 1962) to encourage King’s Members of all ages to develop entrepreneurial ideas and concepts into businesses with sustainable commercial and social benefits, with a first prize of £20,000.
