EduVantage

EduVantage is a School Information Management System (SIMS) suite designed to streamline, unify and simplify administrative and educational processes, with features and functionalities that meet the diverse needs of students, teachers, administrators and parents.

EduVantage is designed as an off-the-shelf, accessible, cost-effective, agile and user-friendly SIMS, uniquely positioned for UK small schools who require flexibility in timetabling and student admissions and progressions as well as Less Developed Countries with limited digital resources, connectivity and skills. The software was originally developed by a London school as an innovative solution to meet its requirements to track, assess, manage and monitor the diverse needs of the vulnerable students on its roll, after a scan of the existing SIMS marketplace identified a gap in the market.

Our EduVantage innovation is targeted at the Less Developed Countries and Small Island Developing States that are seeking to improve and enhance the educational offer for their young people, with an emphasis on equality of access and standardisation of resources; support and identification of special educational needs, disabilities and learning difficulties; and tracking and escalation/resolution of safeguarding concerns.

Impact statement - 6 months on

6 months after presenting EduVantage at the Lyon’s Den final of the King’s Entrepreneurship Prize, they continue to forge ahead with product design and development, validation and testing and sales and marketing.

Notable progress over the last 6 months includes:

  • The development of EduVantage Sentinel, which is our aggregator management dashboard product that offers users a view of key performance metrics across several schools;
  • Product verification, validation and testing of the final version of EduVantage Core, this included the development and deployment of an updated version of Core to meet new IT security standards;
  • A meeting with the Commissioning team at London local authority to introduce the EduVantage suite of products and the potential clarity EduVantage Sentinal can offer when managing vulnerable children placed in several AP schools
  • A meeting with the Education team at another London local authority to scope a meeting to present EduVantage Core as a school management solution for AP schools in the borough;
  • A meeting with UK Innovate to secure support for product development and export readiness.

Additionally, over the last 6 months we also focused on researching IT security and compliance protocols and continuing to scope and plan for the changing needs of potential customers in the UK and in Africa and the Caribbean.

At the end of November, EduVantage was commended with an ‘Innovation & Bridge Award’ from the Barbados High Commission in London for innovation in education.  We were honoured at a gala dinner in central London, where we met with several prominent people from both the UK and Barbados, including the High Commissioner to the UK.

We are continuing to build on the discussions, scoping meetings and stakeholder feedback to develop, extend and strengthen our product offer. Our key focus for the next 6 months is the development of a case study client to support our sales and marketing drive as we move into full commercialisation of our product suite.
