Economics reading list

For prospective students

Students in the Library

We advise you to read the Economics page thoroughly. For reading and preparation advice (including sample mathematical and analytical questions from the Director of Studies in Economics), you will find the following sections particularly useful:

Do also keep an eye on the subject resources, which provide more general guidance and examples for developing your academic interests.

For offer holders

For reading before you start the course, the best text to read in preparation for studying Economics is D. Begg, R. Dornbusch and S. Fischer, Economics, McGraw Hill.

If you studied in a different qualification system and would like to consult an A level Mathematics textbook, we suggest L. Bostock and S. Chandler. 2013. Core Maths for Advanced Level. 3rd edition. Cheltenham: Nelson Thornes.

For more information, please consult the the Faculty of Economics website, which includes a preliminary reading list for Part I
