London Symphony Orchestra to play work by King's postgrad
Patrick Brennan, a first year PhD composer at King's, will have a new piece premièred by the London Symphony Orchestra on 5 February 2015.
The work is titled "Ballabile", a word from dance terminology, describing a passage in which the entire Corps de Ballet dances together. This is reflected in the music, which is a celebration of the sound of a full symphony orchestra.
It was commissioned by the LSO through the Panufnik Young Composer's scheme, sponsored by the Helen Hamlyn Trust. It will be played at the Barbican Hall alongside music by Tchaikovsky and Berlioz, and will be conducted by Sir Mark Elder. More information and tickets are available on the LSO website.
