Kingsman and former Governor of the Bank of England Mervyn King has just been appointed to the Order of the Garter. He is one of only 23 people currently holding this honour.
Baron King (KC 1966) read Economics at King's and graduated in 1969 with a first-class degree. He was the Governor of the Bank of England and Chairman of its Monetary Policy Committee from 2003 to 2013. He was elected an Honorary Fellow of King's in 2003 and made a Life Peer in 2013.
