The captain of the Men’s 1st boat, Will Miller, was delighted to share the news that his crew has qualified to race in the first round of the Temple Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta. The race will be against Eton College on Wednesday 3 July at 3.35pm.

Will, a 4th year earth scientist, said: 'Training is going well and we are all looking forward to the challenge of Eton.'

Professor Michael Proctor, Provost-Elect, said: 'This is tremendous news, please give my best wishes. To beat Eton would be a coup indeed!'

It is the first time in many years that a King’s boat has qualified for the Henley Royal Regatta, with the last reaching the quarter finals of the Thames Cup in the early fifties. A member of that crew, Sir Adrian Cadbury (KC 1949), said: 'This is wonderful news.'

Update (4 July)

Despite a great effort from the King's crew, unfortunately they lost to Eton yesterday.

Commiserations to the crew, but well done for making it to Henley!

The Temple Challenge Cup is currently held by the University of Washington, U.S.A.
