Evensong marks 50th anniversary of famous Choir recording

Allegri reunion group

Roy Goodman, Stephen Cleobury (Director of Music) and Sir David Willcocks with the chorister who sang treble solo on Saturday.

The recording by King's College Choir of Allegri's Miserere under the direction of Sir David Willcocks, with Roy Goodman as the treble soloist, has achieved great fame.

2013 sees the 50th anniversary of this recording, and it was a great delight to have Roy and Sir David in the congregation at Evensong on Saturday 16 February when the Choir sang the piece to mark the beginning of Lent.

The original recording has been digitally remastered and released in the 'Decca Legends' series. You can buy the CD from The Shop at King's. The same version of Allegri's Miserere also appears on a Decca release called Evensong for Ash Wednesday.
