Chapel appoints 91-year-old man to help tourists

Tourists in the Chapel

King's has appointed 91-year-old David Pollock as a Chapel volunteer. David is a retired print worker and chef, and is the oldest volunteer who has worked in the Chapel.

He said: "I saw the advert a few weeks ago and thought it would be a nice job to have, but I was worried about my age.

"When I called, they asked if I was able to stand up for a few hours, and then told me to come along."

He joins a small team of volunteers who help manage the visitors during the high tourist season from July to September. The team's role is to welcome visitors and answer any simple questions they might have.
