Concerts at King's season ends with a celebration of Beethoven
The last concert in the 2012/13 Concerts at King's season features Beethoven's Mass in C and his Violin Concerto in D.
For his Mass in C, Beethoven aimed to set the mass 'in a manner in which it has rarely been treated'. The work contains some of Beethoven's finest choral writing, and The Penguin Guide to Compact Discs (2004 edition) calls it a 'long-underrated masterpiece.'
The soloist in Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D is Jennifer Pike. Jennifer won the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition in 2002 at just twelve years old. Since then she has played in major venues all over the world and has won high acclaim for her first recordings.
