John Graham Hall is singing the role of Peter Grimes at La Scala

Three former Choral Scholars are singing at La Scala in Milan from 19 May to 7 June 2012.

They will be starring in a production of Britten's Peter Grimes. John Graham Hall (KC 1974) is singing the title role, Christopher Purves (KC 1980) is singing the role of Captain Bulstrode, and Christopher Gillett (KC 1976) is singing the role of the Revd Adams.

In the summer, Christopher Purves will also be singing in a new opera composed by a Kingsman. He will take one of the lead roles in 'Written on Skin' by George Benjamin CBE (KC 1978), which will be performed at the Festival in Aix en Provence in July.

George Benjamin studied under Messiaen in Paris, read Music at King's, and is the youngest composer to have had their work played at the Proms. During his time at Cambridge, he conducted the Cambridge University Music Society (CUMS).

After the Festival, his opera will tour major European opera houses, including the Royal Opera House.
