The annual Funday was blessed with beautiful sunshine yesterday. The Fun Day is a party organised by King’s students to celebrate the end of term with the whole college community.

Students, Fellows, staff, and their friends and families basked in the warmth and enjoyed a host of jolly activities.

This year activities included face painting, a bouncy castle, an inflatable obstacle course, sumo wrestling in inflatable suits, and a bungee run where two teams competed to get a ball into a basketball net (harder than it looked!).

Mid afternoon, a crowd gathered on the riverbank to watch kayak polo. Kayak polo is a very popular sport in King’s, with equipment provided by the King’s Kayaking and Mountaineering Association. It is also an exciting game to watch, as students paddle furiously after the ball, and somehow still have hands for catching and shooting!

Next it was punt racing. The teams raced from King’s Bridge, went round an arch of Clare Bridge, and then sprinted back. The crowd cheered enthusiastically, particularly when the punters fell in.

The funniest moment came when all attention was on a very splashy battle between the three leading punts, and a fourth punt came from behind and sneaked past on the other side of the river, using the bank to pull on.

Thanks to all involved in the organisation of this very enjoyable event, in particular the KCSU Entertainments Officer, Linda Du.
