Postcards from the archives

Old postcard of a canoeist on the River Cam

The Archive of the month for March looks at old postcards of King's. The first picture postcard was produced in France in 1870, and from the 1880s King's began appearing on postcards.

The Archive of the month shows examples of these early postcards up until the late 1930s. It shows the types of images popular on cards at the time - black and white photos and hand-tinted photos - and gives a glimpse of what King's looked like in the early twentieth century.
