Catering awarded five stars for hygiene

FSA stars in the servery

King's Catering Department had a routine but unannounced visit from the Environmental Health Officer last Thursday (15 September). The inspector checked the housekeeping procedures, the cleanliness of the facilities and the qualifications of the staff. She gave the department the highest possible rating of five stars ('Excellent').

The inspection came at a busy time for the Catering Department because they were just preparing lunch for delegates at the Royal Television Society Convention (see the news story). The five stars is also an improvement on the previous rating of four stars ('Good'). Since the previous rating, however, the kitchen and servery have been completely refurbished with state of the art facilities, which opened in February 2011.

For details about the conference and dining facilities at King's see the Conference & Dining section. For more about food hygiene star ratings see the Food Standards Agency website.
