Archive of the month: brewing at King's

Drawing of the brewhouse

The brewhouse

The latest Archive of the month looks at the history of brewing at King's. King's brewed its own beer from the 1440s to the 1880s, and the Archive of the month shows some of the documents relating to beermaking at the college.

You can see a drawing of the old brewhouse as well as letters of advice about beermaking. You can also read the history of brewing at King's, how beermaking was enshrined in the college statutes, and how it supplemented the diet of the Fellows of the college.

See the May Archive of the month, Mine's a pint: brewing at King's.

You can find previous issues on the Archive of the month home page.
