Gamelan music comes to the Chapel

Missa Gongso flyer

Two gamelan groups are playing a mass for gamelan and choir in the Chapel on Friday 22 October. Cambridge and York Universities’ gamelan groups join St Catharine’s Chapel choirs and the York 24 choir to play Missa Gongso ('A Bronze Mass') by Neil Sorrell. It will probably be the first time gamelan has been played in the Chapel.

The programme also includes other modern works written for gamelan, such as Lou Harrison’s lyrical Double Concerto for Violin, Cello and Gamelan, and a selection of traditional Javanese works.

The concerts starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £12 (£6 concessions). You can buy tickets from the Shop at King's, King's Parade, Cambridge (01223 769 342). Please note there is a £2 surcharge for card transactions.

This concert is part of the University of Cambridge's Festival of Ideas and the Concerts at King's series.
