Channel 4 shows footage of King's in the 1974 elections

Students in the bar

King's students discuss politics in the College bar, 1974

The Channel 4 website is showing a film of King's during the 1974 general election campaign. The film was made by ITV's News at Ten, and looks at the influence Cambridge students would have on the Cambridge election results, and whether that influence was fair.

The film starts at King's, with footage of the choristers walking towards the Chapel 'like a club of miniature stockbrokers.' The scene moves to King's students in the bar, who play darts and table football and discuss whether it is right they should have the vote in Cambridge.

Go to the Channel 4 website to watch the film.
