Donor Recognition

We are honoured to recognise all gifts to the College, with deep appreciation for your contribution to King’s. All gifts are acknowledged with a letter of thanks, and all donors will receive invitations to special College events from time to time, as well as being mentioned in our Annual Report. Receipts for donations can be provided on request, and donors are of course welcome to remain anonymous, according to individual preference.

In addition, donors who establish an expendable or endowed fund will receive an annual stewardship report, detailing the impact that their gift has had upon the College and its community.

For outstanding philanthropy, donors are eligible for nomination to the 1441 Foundation, or indeed for election as Fellow Commoners or Fellow Benefactors. Donors may be recognised for their annual and cumulative giving, as well as for intended legacies (when the language of the bequest or other documentation is shared with the College).

The 1441 Foundation

The purpose of the 1441 Foundation is to encourage and recognise extraordinary philanthropy in support of the mission of King’s College, Cambridge. Membership of the Foundation is based on a donor’s cumulative giving; Fellows Commoners and Benefactors are elected on the basis of nomination to the College’s Governing Body.

£25,000 - Lifetime membership.

£100,000 - Guild level member.

£250,000 - Eligible for nomination as a Fellow Commoner. Also eligible for nomination to the University of Cambridge Vice-Chancellor’s Circle.

£1,000,000 - Eligible for nomination as a Fellow Benefactor. Also eligible for nomination to the University's Guild of Cambridge Benefactors.

Henry VI Legacy Circle

All legacy donors are recognised with membership of the King’s College Legacy Circle.

Legators who indicate in writing a bequest to the College of more than £100,000 will be recognised as Lifetime Members of the 1441 Foundation; legators providing documentation for bequests in excess of £250,000 will be recognised as Guild Members of the 1441 Foundation.

In addition, legators in the United States may be eligible for membership in Cambridge in America’s 1209 Society.
