Foundation Lunch 2020

We look forward to welcoming our Members and their guests back to College on Saturday, 14 March 2020 for the Foundation Lunch. The event is open to all King’s Members who matriculated in and before 1970, and their guests.

The charge to attend the Foundation Lunch is £35.00 per person. This price includes a three-course meal with wine or non-alcoholic alternative, and is supported in part by the College.

2020 marks 50 years since the death of King’s alumnus and one of the major British writers of the twentieth century, E. M. Forster. The programme will include a talk from the Acting Vice-Provost and Fellow Librarian, Peter Jones on Forster and King’s: Residence and Reciprocity which will explore different facets of Forster’s relationship with King’s, from undergraduate friendships to his famous tea parties on A staircase.

Following lunch, there will be an exhibition in the Wine Room, linked to the talk on Forster’s legacy and the people and places that influenced him. There will also be the opportunity to go informally into the Foundation Concert rehearsal in the Chapel, which may appeal to those who aren’t able to attend the concert that evening. Please see the programme for further information on the timings and locations.

The charge to attend the Foundation Lunch is £35.00 per person. This price includes a three-course meal with wine or non-alcoholic alternative, and is supported in part by the College.

The date of the Foundation Lunch coincides with the Foundation Concert in the Chapel, which this year will feature Mendelssohn’s ‘Hebrides’ Overture and Beethoven’s Mass in C Major Op.86. A limited number of top and middle section seats for the concert, priced £35.00 and £27.00 each respectively, are on hold for those attending the Foundation Lunch. If you would like to buy Foundation Concert tickets in addition to your lunch ticket/s, please detail this on your response form. Concert tickets will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and will be available for collection at the registration desk.

Going forward we would particularly like to encourage those from the 60th anniversary class (1960 ) to use the Foundation Lunch as an opportunity for an informal class reunion. We would be delighted if as many of those from the class of 1960 joined us this year. All those who do attend can then be seated together.

We very much hope to welcome you back to King’s in March for this annual event.  Please do let us know whether or not you wish to attend by Friday, 28 February, either by calling the Development Office on +44(0)1223 767497, or by returning the response form. listed below.
