On behalf of the King's Affair 2024 Committee, we were delighted to invite alumni to attend the King's Affair on Wednesday, 19th June 2024.
The theme for this year is “Falselore”. Falselore is a concept that challenges the barriers of storytelling. It is the creation of new fiction with the illusion of retelling. “Falselore” is the process of writing a brand-new false narrative in the moment, weaving together elements of fantasy, mystery, and word of mouth to tell stories that play on an illusion of history and mythology. It explores the uncanny meeting of new stories and craft that evokes distortion and myth.
This year, the night of the King’s Affair will be the genesis of a new story. Guests will discover artificial testimonies and illusions of historical traces of previous KAs that we create in our storyline to write their own fiction that will be told, remembered, and distorted by generations of King’s Affairs to come.
At King’s, we are known for doing things differently. Celebrated as the antidote to the monotony of traditional balls, the King's Affair transforms the grounds of King's College into a spectacular, daring, dream-like world for one night a year.
Gowns and tuxedos are exchanged for extravagant fancy dress and costume, up-and-coming music rules the stage, whilst glittering lights and wild artwork take over the senses. This year's dress code is Falselore…be as creative as you can!
