Groups Policy 2018

King’s College welcomes groups to visit when the College is open. All groups are requested to use the following booking procedure. If you have not pre-booked, then entry to the College cannot be guaranteed.

Booking

Bookings must be made by completing the online form [link] at least one week before visit date.

Office hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Opening times

Our opening times vary depending on whether it is term time – please consult our website for up to date opening times and any Chapel closures. Last entry to the College will be 30 minutes before the closure of the Chapel.
Monday 9th July until Thursday 27th September - Groups may only visit between 10.30am and 2.30pm.
Group leaders are requested to honour the booking time agreed.  If any delays are encountered on the day, please leave a message on 01223 331212 or 07824 835245 (Saturday and Sunday).

Admission prices for 2018 (excluding summer months)

Group rate prices for 10 or more people:
Monday to Friday – Adults £8 and students and children £5.50
Saturday and Sunday – Adults £9 and students and children £6

Admission prices for Monday 9th July until Thursday 27th September

Group rate prices for 10 or more people:
Monday to Friday – Adults £8 and students and children £5.50
Saturday and Sunday – Adults £10 and students and children £6
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO CONCESSION RATE FOR OVER 60s

Group size

Maximum group size is 50 at any one time. We will offer one free group leader/teacher place for every 25 people. Any group arriving with insufficient leaders, or without a leader who is prepared to accompany the group at all times, will not be admitted to the Chapel.

What the visit includes

A visit to King’s College includes a visit to the Chapel with the help of a self-guided tour leaflet and the chance to walk around the College grounds (when open). No other buildings in the College are open to public and we ask all visitors to respect the areas marked private.
Please note no public toilet or refreshment facilities available.

Payment

Payment for tickets can be made:

  • in advance by calling 01223 331212 (No refunds once payment has been made)
  • by voucher (invoice with 30 days credit terms)
  • on arrival at the North entrance of the Chapel accessed via Senate House Passage or at the King’s College Visitor Centre.

Guiding

King’s College does not offer guided tours itself. Any group wishing to have a guided tour must contact Visit Cambridge on or by phoning 01223 791501.
GROUPS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CONDUCT THEIR OWN GUIDED TOURS OR BRING THEIR OWN GUIDES.

Code of Conduct

The College is private property and home to a community of students. Visits to the College are only permitted on the understanding that visitors respect the College as a place of education and learning.  In addition we ask visitors to respect the Chapel as a place of Christian worship (this may include times when visitors are asked to be silent whilst a service is taking place).
We request that the following rules are observed:

  • No flash photography
  • No tripods
  • No walking on the lawns
  • No shouting or loud music
  • No mobile phones (except to take photos)
