Radio 3 broadcasts Candlemas service from King's

Two choristers in candlelight

BBC Radio 3 broadcast last Wednesday's Candlemas service live from King's College Chapel. A recording of the service was also broadcast yesterday, and you can now listen to it on the Radio 3 website.

The Candlemas service, or the Feast of the Presentation of Christ in the Temple, is held on 2 February. It commemorates the ritual purification of Mary, 40 days after the birth of her son. It is also the day that Joseph and Mary presented the baby Jesus to God in the Temple at Jerusalem.

In the broadcast, the choir sing music by Tallis, Byrd and Victoria. See the Radio 3 website.

The next live broadcast of King's College Choir will be on 22 April, when they will sing Frank Martin's Golgotha. For details see the Easter at King's page.
