Archive of the month: Cocktails, mongrels and moustaches

John Willis and companion

October's Archive of the month features a Victorian cartoon of an evening party at King's. The cartoon was drawn by King's Fellow Arthur Coleridge James and is called 'An Evenynge Partye at ye Provoste Hys Lodge, Manners and Customs of ye Kyngesmen in 1861. No. 1.'

It caricatures many of James' contemporaries at the college as they sing at the piano, chat by the fire, or stand awkwardly in the middle of the room.
