Sir David Willcocks at 90: a special Evensong on 16 January

Sir David Willcocks

Sir David Willcocks celebrated his 90th birthday on 30 December. Sir David was Director of Music at King's for 17 years, from 1957 to 1974. During this time he made many acclaimed recordings with the choir, and wrote well-known arrangements for traditional carols and hymns.

On Saturday 16 January there was a special Evensong in Sir David's honour. Sir David himself conducted the King's College Choir as well as members of the CUMS chorus and The Bach Choir. Details of the service can be found in the Lent services booklet.

A biography of Sir David, A Life in Music, was published by Oxford University Press in 2008.
