The Library's special collections contain many valuable books, manuscripts and rare scores which were acquired by purchase or donation from about 1570 onwards.
Acquisitions reflect the intellectual life of the College in centuries past, in the broad subject areas of classics, philosophy, theology, physic (medicine), natural philosophy, natural history, music, and mathematics.
Many of the Library’s rare books and manuscripts were donated or bequeathed to the College, and represent the interests of the individual donors.

On the Donors' page you can read about the collectors who gave rare books and manuscripts to King's College Library.
