Procession for Advent

1 Dec 2019 - 5:50 pm
King's College Chapel

Please note that this is a private service open to King's members only.

All Members may apply for two tickets annually. This replaces the previous system, which allowed Non Resident Members to apply for tickets every four years. Extra tickets can be requested (please indicate on your ticket request form), but this is at the discretion of the Dean.

Applications to attend this service can be sent throughout the year, to assist Members who wish to plan in advance for travel and other arrangements. While we can usually confirm whether or not your application for tickets has been successful fairly quickly, we will not know the location of your seats until much nearer the time, as the Dean personally arranges the seating plan in the weeks prior to the service.

With this in mind please also be aware that the majority of seats for Non Resident Members (NRM’s) attending the Procession for Advent will be in the Ante-Chapel, but unlike a normal Evensong service the Choir will process throughout the Chapel.

Requesting a Ticket - College Members

College Members wishing to request tickets for Procession for Advent should please complete the Ticket Request Form below, and return with a 1st class stamped addressed envelope (for ticket return) to: Procession for Advent 2019, Development Office, King’s College, Cambridge, CB2 1ST. Alternatively, you are welcome to return your form or reply by email and collect your tickets on the day from the Porters’ Lodge. Please request tickets by 1st November 2019. Applications for tickets will be acknowledged.

Please note that doors open at 5.00pm on 1st December and guests are asked to be seated in the Chapel by 5.45pm. The service will last approximately one and a half hours.

If you are not a member of King's College, but would like to be considered for tickets, please apply directly to the Dean's office via email: deans-pa@kings.cam.ac.uk

Attending other College Chapel Services

Non-Resident Members are of course most welcome to attend the regular Chapel services. NRMs may bring two guests, sit in the College stalls and queue for admission in the College queue, usually in front of the Gibbs’ Building. We regret that we cannot normally allow children to sit in the College stalls. For some services tickets are issued and different seating rules will apply. If in doubt, or hoping to bring more guests, NRMs should contact the Dean’s Verger, (tel: +44 (0)1223 746506 or email), well in advance. In any case, the Dean and Chaplain are always glad to know when NRMs will be attending and to have the opportunity to greet them on arrival or departure. We therefore encourage you to introduce yourself to the clergy during your next visit to the Chapel, so that they might welcome you back to your College and have a brief word of conversation.
