Choristers to perform organ recital
An organ recital in King's College Chapel on Saturday 10 June is to feature performances by four of the Choristers in King's College Choir. The four boys, aged 12-13, are preparing to play a selection of music by Bach, Buxtehude, Vierne and Howells in the recital which will be free of charge and open to the public. All four boys are in their final year in the Choir and will be the first time each has played in a public recital in the Chapel. The recital will begin after Evensong at 6:40pm.
The four senior Choristers aren't the only King's boys in the spotlight at the moment. Thomas Alban, a Year 7 chorister, has won one of two commendations in the David Willcocks Composition Competition, organised by the Choir Schools Association. Jonathan Willcocks, who judged the entries, didn't award an overall winner this year, making Thomas's commendation for his "ambitious" piece for choir and organ the highest accolade in the 2017 competition.
